This port city on the
Turkey’s eastern Black Sea coast was an impportant link on the
Silk Road for many centuries and has been extensirely describedby
Marco Polo and other Travellers. Today Trabzon remains a major port
giving decess to eastern Turkey, the Caucasus and Iran, and also has
an airport used by many tourists attracted to the famous Sumela
Monastery and the Kaçkar Mountains in fact, the city itself is of
considerable interest, as we will see in this stroll around its
historic monuments.
